He died on 28 Jun 1986 in Rosario, Santa Fé, Argentina. He was buried 1 on 30 Jun 1986 in Cementerio de La Piedad, Rosario, Santa Fé, Argentina.

A man possessed of a formidable intellect, Juan Alberto was an engineer, surveyor and historian. In the 1940’s, he developed a master plan for the building of road and rail accesses to the city of Rosario that at the time of this compilation is still being built and will carry the city well into the 21st Century. He was for many years a Trustee of the Historical Society of Rosario through which journal published many articles under the name of “Alberto Montes”. As technical advisor to the National Commission on the Dulce River, he oversaw the technical details of one of the largest projects of canal and hydroelectric power utilization in the Argentine State of Santiago del Estero. And was involved in the planning of the “Ciudad Universitaria” a new campus for the University of Rosario from 1948 until 1956. In 1973-1974, he was the President of the Technological University of Rosario, and later of the National Technological University in Buenos Aires from 1974 until being deposed by the military Government that seized power in the coup of 26 March 1976. The events of 1976 led him into a self-imposed internal exile, dedicating most of his time to historical research. During the following years he established the origins of the city of Rosario in the lands of Santiago Montenegro, nullifying the fancy tales of the city’s origins that for years had been taught as historical fact.

Roald had been living with Mimi, his common-law wife. She was also executed and died next to Roald and their unborn child. A man of extraordinary intelligence and warmth he was well loved by those who knew him, including the compiler, and is still sorely missed. Recent efforts seem to have located his unmarked grave in the cemetery of La Plata.

Funeral Oration delivered by Dr. Aníbal Jorge Taborda during the funeral of Saul M. A. Montes-Bradley, 22 November 1945 at the Cemetery of San Salvador:

Saul Montes is dead. Life could not have dealt a heavier blow to those who were his friends.
What cruel fate would threaten the happy heights of these admirable men?
What obstacles litter the course of these springs of goodness?
What force extinguishes the Sun that shed its light upon this spring of the soul, this handful of feelings, this beautiful balance of intelligence and struggle, of miraculous internal peace?
What the dart that centers upon this champion of affection and gaiety, this overgrown child that always looked for us to live enjoying our triumphs, to offer to us all of his abilities and light?
He weathered many storms, arms on hand, never flailing in the struggle, always drawing in his mind a new plan for the future that, in the immensity of its conception and the surety of its performance, was infallibly beyond the common and mediocre.
And thus visited this saint of friendship the more brilliant stages of the most reasoned ideas; of the most serious research; of well-founded theories; teaching them -perhaps unwittingly- to those who thought they had nothing else to learn.
His was a frank laughter. How many times did we go in search of it to better face the road forward!
A privileged mind, that so many of our trials dissipated; sensitive heart that has failed today, exceeded in its goodness, worn-out of having been so often given…
A Fellow of the hours and of centuries, untiring alquimist of Time, to whom but the affectionate conversation of a friend could give respite.
Potent engine of a life well lived, enormous machinery of production, magnificent gear of all useful things.
He was also the amusement of children, merry companion of his little ones, to whom he new how to be a father and a friend.
Sincere democrat, he died hoping for his country the dream of all of Argentina: Freedom for all.
This is what Saul was…He leaves us no more. He knows as well as we do that this is no more than a game of time: Yesterday, a second seemed like a century when he was not around. Today, a century will seem but a second to remember him.”

[Funeral Oration delivered by Dr. Anibal Jorge Taborda during the funeral of Saul M. A. Montes-Bradley, on 22 November 1945 at the Cemetery of San Salvador:
