Owen succeeded on the death of his grandfather, Meredith ap Bleddyn. In 1176 he attended the summons of Henry to a conference with him at Oxford on Welsh affairs. He was a poet and a Prince, a distinguished bard. In 1170 he founded the Cistercian Abbey of Strata Marcelle and died 1197.
