10697. Dennis Evarts

Born in Stamford, Vt., Aug. 24, 1809. In the autumn of 1811; he came with his mother, brother and sister in a Concord wagon to Riga, Munroe county, N. Y., their father having preceded them a few months. They journeyed near the town site of the city of Rochester. In the winter of 1816-17 they removed from Riga to Clarendon, N. Y., formerly Genesee county, now Orleans. Here in this vicinity he spent the whole of his mature years. He married Dec. 20, 1832, Susan Oman, who was born at Groveland, Livington county, N. Y; Her father was a native of Pennsylvania and a soldier of the war of 1812; her mother was born at Hagerstown, Md., of French Huguenot parentage. Shortly after his marriage he became a farmer for the remaining years of his life and died respected. He made his home by honest industry.
