Message from the Worshipful Master

November 2001

My Brethren,

First, I’d like to thank the many brothers who expressed support to my call for tolerance last month. It makes me feel proud to serve the finest men in town!

It is going to be a busy time for me in the next few days. I will visit W\ Roger Paul in Titusville on the 27th of October, and I expect to finalize details of our upcoming visit to Indian River Lodge No. 90. We will then drive back to Miami together, where we will attend M\W\ Glenn W. Phillips’ visit to our district. On the 28th, we will go to Tropical Park, to give our J\G\W\, R\W\ Eddie Gonzalez, a well-deserved homecoming, and on the 29th, we will confer the EA degree on our newest candidate.

In the past few weeks, I have visited numerous lodges in the district, as I was appointed to complete the year as Chairman of the Grand Master’s Committee on Charities, Wills and Gifts. I was honored to receive the appointment and will strive to represent our lodge well.

Our next stated communication will be on the 5th of November, then we will have a Thanksgiving dinner on the 19th, and we will have a Summons meeting on the 3rd of December. Please mark your calendars.

We have been discussing ways to assist public education in our area, and will surely approve the plan on our next meeting. Come to the lodge, and be a part of this very exciting process. Together, we can, and will, improve the quality of education in our city. As I mentioned in my August letter, we have to "educate the sovereign." We have to ensure that the next generation is up to the task of governing our nation in freedom. Those who can afford our better schools are already there. Are we going to allow the majority of our children to grow without the skills they need to work? Without a knowledge of and affection for our history? Without an uncompromising attachment to our freedoms? I hope not. But then, someone will have to step in and help. If not Masons, who? Come in, brethren, and let us know you care, too.

Fraternally yours,

Saul M. Montes-Bradley

Worshipful Master
